[ISP] Red Phosphorus Meth Lab Uncovered in Indianapolis
Start Date: 2/10/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 2/10/2014
Entry Description
Indianapolis, IN- This morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., Indiana State Police Officers from the Cyber Crimes Unit assisted the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department with the service of a search warrant at 3330 West Mooresville Road, Indianapolis.

During the course of the investigation a suspected clandestine lab was observed in another outside building and a search warrant was applied for by the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Section. After receiving the warrant, officers located items commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine utilizing the red phosphorus method.

The red phosphorus method of manufacturing methamphetamine is extremely dangerous due to the possibility of toxic gases and explosions. However, Trooper Tom Egler, of the ISP Meth Suppression Section, said this lab was not active today and the surrounding neighbors were not in any danger. No evacuations were experienced due to the lab being discovered.

Indiana State Police arrested Sheridan Tom, 41, 3330 W. Mooresville Road, Indianapolis and transported him to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center. He faces charges of Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, Class B Felony, Possession of Precursors, Class D Felony and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class D Felony.

The mission of the Meth Suppression Section is to proactively investigate methamphetamine crimes in communities all over the state of Indiana. MSS utilizes a three pronged approach by focusing on enforcement, education, and the creation of partnerships. You can report suspected drug activity anonymously at www.meth.in.gov or 1-800-453-4756.

Information requests regarding the Cyber Crimes search warrant should be directed to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
