[ISP] Bloomington Troopers Respond to Latest Winter Weather
Start Date: 2/15/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 2/15/2014
Entry Description

Bloomington ---Troopers from the Bloomington Post were busy responding to various calls during the onslaught of the latest winter storm. The Bloomington District is comprised of Monroe, Morgan, Greene, Owen, Lawrence and Brown counties.

Since 11:00p.m. yesterday, until 1:00p.m. today, troopers have responded to 11 property damage crashes, 6 personal injury crashes, 39 slide offs and 17 disabled motorists.

No serious or life threatening injuries were reported.

The Bloomington District utilized all available manpower to ensure the safety of the motoring public and maintained coverage throughout the storm.

Trouble spots for motorists during the storm included State Road 37 in Monroe County at Victor Pike, SR37 at Kinser Pike and Acuff Road north of Bloomington, State Road 37 at Burma Road near the Morgan-Monroe County line and SR 46 West of Nashville in Brown County.

The most frequent cause for the crashes and slide-offs were motorists driving too fast for conditions. Drivers are always encouraged to slow down, follow other vehicles at a safe distance, avoid driver distractions and use extreme caution while driving through winter weather conditions.

Currently, state roadways within the Bloomington District are passable. Secondary roads remain snow covered in areas which results in slick and hazardous conditions.

For road condition updates please call 1-800-261-ROAD or visit http://indot.carsprogram.org/main.jsf.
