[ISP] Vincennes Man Arrested After Speed Contest and Brief Chase
Start Date: 3/21/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 3/21/2014
Entry Description
Knox County – Last night at approximately 9:20, Trooper Brad Mull was patrolling Hart Street near Veterans Drive when he observed two newer model Dodge Darts exit US 41 onto eastbound Hart Street. After briefly stopping at a green traffic signal at Hart Street and Kimmell Road, both vehicles accelerated quickly and continued east at a high rate of speed. Trooper Mull activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop both vehicles. One of the vehicles stopped in front of Lincoln High School. The other vehicle braked and appeared to be slowing down, but then the driver accelerated and eventually turned right onto Richard Bauer Drive. Trooper Mull continued to chase the fleeing vehicle, which turned east on Main Street Road without stopping at the stop sign. Trooper Mull was able to use his radar and clock the 2014 Dodge Dart at 90 mph. The driver eventually stopped after seeing a Knox County sheriff’s deputy parked on a side road off of Main Street Road. The driver, who was identified as Robert Devine, 23, of Vincennes, was arrested without further incident. The driver who pulled over in front of Lincoln High School eventually drove away and has not been identified. Troopers continue to investigate.
