[GOV] Governor Pence Commends Senator Coats on Sound Regulation Act
Start Date: 4/22/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 4/22/2014
Entry Description

Indianapolis – In a letter sent today to Senator Dan Coats, Governor Mike Pence commends him for his efforts through S. 2099, the Sound Regulation Act, to help Indiana businesses focus on creating jobs instead of burdensome federal regulations.

“Every dollar not spent on regulatory paperwork is a dollar Indiana businesses can spend putting Hoosiers to work,” said Governor Pence. “On behalf of the state of Indiana, I commend Senator Coats for his leadership in introducing legislation that will stem the tide of overreaching and expensive federal regulations on businesses across the nation.”

On Pence’s first day in office in January of 2013, he signed an executive order to alleviate burdens on Hoosier entrepreneurs and businesses by halting new regulations and calling for a thorough review of those already in place. In 2013, new state government regulations declined 55 percent in the state of Indiana from 2012.

The Governor’s letter in full can be found attached.

Editor's Note: The last sentence in the third paragraph was edited to reflect that the 55% reduction was in new state government regulations in 2013 as compared to 2012.
