Contractors Repairing I-70 Pavement in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to restrict Interstate 70 to one lane in each direction this weekend for full-depth concrete patching near State Road 3 Exit 123 to New Castle.

Beginning at approximately 8 p.m. Friday, crews will restrict the passing (left) lanes of eastbound I-70 approaching Exit 123 and westbound I-70 after Exit 123. Interchange ramps at State Road 3 are expected to remain open. The left lanes will remain restricted until new concrete has adequate time to cure. Contractors anticipate reopening both lanes Sunday afternoon.

This year, E & B Paving, the INDOT contractor for the $7.7 million project, will repair and resurface a 7-mile section of I-70 between State Road 109 (Exit 115 to Knightstown) and State Road 3 (Exit 123 to New Castle). All traffic lanes in both directions are included in the contract. All lane restrictions are expected to take place during weeknights and weekends. Additional highway work zones and lane restrictions can be expected on I-70 in Hancock and Wayne counties. For information on INDOT work zones and highway restrictions, go to or call toll-free 800-261-ROAD (7623).

Motorists are urged to practice safe driving habits, especially in and around work zones. Follow speed limits, maintain safe distances from other vehicles and avoid all distractions—especially cell phones. The Indiana Work Zone Safety Law sets steep penalties for driving infractions within highway work zones. INDOT partners with the Indiana State Police to provide increased patrols and promote public safety in work zones. For more information on work zone safety, go to
