I-70 Pavement Repairs in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to restrict westbound Interstate 70 to one lane this weekend for full-depth concrete patching near State Road 3 (New Castle Exit 123).

Beginning at approximately 8 p.m. Friday, crews will restrict the right lane of westbound I-70 between mile markers 120 and 117, which is after Exit 123 and before State Road 109 (Knightstown Exit 115). Interchange ramps at State Road 3 are expected to remain open. The right lane will remain restricted until new concrete has adequate time to cure. Contractors anticipate reopening the lane to traffic Sunday afternoon.

This year, E & B Paving, the INDOT contractor for the $7.7 million project, will repair and resurface a 7-mile section of I-70 between State Road 109 and State Road 3. All traffic lanes in both directions are included in the contract. All lane restrictions are expected to take place during weeknights and weekends. Additional highway work zones and lane restrictions can be expected on I-70 in Hancock and Wayne counties. For information on INDOT work zones and highway restrictions, go to or call toll-free 800-261-ROAD (7623).

Motorists are urged to always comply with work zone speed limits, maintain safe distances from other vehicles and avoid distractions to improve safety for both highway workers and motorists. The Indiana Work Zone Safety Law sets steep penalties for driving infractions within highway work zones. INDOT partners with the Indiana State Police to provide increased patrols and promote public safety in work zones. For more information on work zone safety, go to
