Entry Description
PORTLAND, Ind.–The Indiana Department of Transportation will conduct a public hearing Thursday evening to present preliminary plans and hear comments from residents and businesses about proposed State Road 26 construction at Portland.
The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. at the East Jay Middle School, 225 E. Water Street.
INDOT engineers and project designers will explain plans that call for full depth pavement replacement of S.R. 26 from U.S. Highway 27 east to the Salomonie River bridge—with ADA-complaint sidewalks on either side of the roadway, improved turning radii at intersections and drives, and a new storm sewer system along Garfield Street that outfalls into the river at Weiler-Wilson Park.
Public comments made at the hearing will be recorded for consideration before further design plans are developed. Meanwhile, comments will continue to be taken through Monday, January 7, 2013. They should be addressed to: Rickie Clark, INDOT Office of Public Information, Room N642, 100 N. Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Or they can be emailed to: rclark@indot.in.gov.
Environmental documents are available for viewing at the Public Involvement Office in Indianapolis, at the INDOT Greenfield District Office located at 32 S. Broadway in Greenfield, or at the Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship Street in Portland. |
