Entry Description
INDIANAPOLIS - Midwest Food Bank received a generous boost in food and monetary donations thanks to the help of Hoosiers during the inaugural events. Governor Mike Pence and First Lady Karen first encouraged residents to lend a helping hand to their fellow Hoosiers across the state through hunger relief efforts, after visiting Midwest Food Bank last month.
The call for help has proven successful thanks to the generosity of Hoosiers during all the inaugural events last weekend. The Midwest Food Bank received 1475 pounds of non-perishable food items and $2,521 in monetary donations from the five inaugural events. Thanks to the generosity of people from across the state, Midwest Food Bank can leverage these donations to provide a meal to 25,000 Hoosiers.
"We are so thankful and inspired by the heartfelt donations from Indiana residents," said First Lady Karen Pence. "We saw firsthand the need and importance of combating hunger when we visited with the Midwest Food Bank. Your kindness has certainly made a difference and we truly appreciate your efforts."
