PERF INTERACTIVE FAQ

Creating Access

Q: How do I get access to my online account?

A: First, you will need to register for an account. The Register Now process will guide you step by step. You will create your unique Username and Password and then be directed to apply for a PIN. Your PIN will be mailed to the address on file at PERF. Once you have received your PIN by mail, you may go back to the PERF Web site and enter all 3 forms of identification (Username, Password, and PIN) to access your account.

Q: I am getting an error messaging saying “The email address you have entered already exists.” I do not think I set up an account.

A: You may have already registered for a Username and Password through PERF or INShape. Your existing Username and Password for INShape may also be used to access your PERF account. If you do not remember registering, then go to the "forgot password" link from the Member Login page. A new password will be e-mailed.

Q: What if I already have a username and password through INShape? How do I apply for a PIN now?

A: You may apply for a PIN by going to the "Need a PIN" link off of the Member Login page. You will be instructed to enter your username and password and once we have successfully validated them, you are directed to the Apply for PIN page.

Q: When I applied for a PIN, I received an error message telling me my application submission has failed. What do I do now?

A: Your name and address must be entered exactly as they are in the PERF system. If you moved or changed names without informing PERF, the system will not recognize you. Try using a former name and/or address. Once you have access to PERF InterActive, you will be able to update this information immediately!

Q: I am new on the job and I cannot find my information?

A: If you are new hire in your PERF covered job, please allow 45 days from the start date of your employment before attempting to register. If you are transferring jobs with the same employer, there should be no time restrictions.

Q: The system will not recognize the names and/or addresses I enter. What do I do now?

A: You may call the toll free number and ask Customer Support to verify your information. If necessary, you may send in a written Change of Name or Address form or request to PERF with the information as you want it to appear. This request must be signed by you. Once your current information is on file, you may use it to register for PERF InterActive.

Username and Password:

Q: What is my Username?

A: Your Username will always be your email address.

Q: How do I create a password?

A: You may choose whatever password you like, but it must be a minimum of six characters in length and cannot contain all lower case or all upper case letters. You may have all lower case or upper case letters if the password contains a number or symbol.

Examples of acceptable and not acceptable passwords:

•  Acceptable: Redball

•  Not Acceptable : redball

•  Acceptable: redball9

•  Not Acceptable : REDBALL

Q: I don't like the password I created. Can I change it?

A: Yes you can! Go to the PERF member login page and select “Change Password.” You must enter your old password first, and then create a new password. Passwords must be a minimum of six characters in length and cannot contain all upper and lower case letters.

Q: I cannot remember my password. How can I login to my account?

A: You may request a new password be sent to your email address by going to the PERF member login page and clicking on “Forgot Password.” Once you have received your new password via email, you may choose to change your password [see instructions above].

Personal Identification Number (PIN):

Q: Why do I need a PIN? Aren't my Username and Password enough?

A: A PIN is needed to provide PERF customers with the highest level of security. Your Username and Password may be used to access other state of Indiana services through accessIndiana applications. The PIN, along with your Username and Password, ensures you are a PERF member. The PIN is mailed to the address on file at PERF to help ensure the person registering for the account is indeed who they say they are.

Q: I lost my PIN. How do I get a new PIN?

A: You must re-apply for a new PIN. Go to the member login page and click the “Need a PIN” link. Once you have signed in with your existing Username and Password, you can re-apply for your new PIN which will be mailed to the address on file with PERF.

Q: I hate my PIN. It's too hard to remember. Can I change it?

A: No, your PIN is randomly generated and cannot be changed. If you lose your PIN, you may re-apply for another PIN.

Q: I think I may have applied for a PIN twice. Will I get two PINs in the mail?

A: Yes. If you have already applied for a PIN and then re-applied, you will receive another PIN by mail. Please use the last PIN received in the mail to access your account, as the earlier PIN will not work.

Q: I am receiving the error “You have entered an invalid username, password, or PIN.” Well, which one is it?

A: For security reasons, we are not allowed to tell you if you have entered an invalid Username, Password, or PIN. If you have forgotten your password, please go to the member login page and click the “Forgot Password” link. Enter in your email address and a new Password will be emailed by accessIndiana. If you recently changed email addresses, try your earlier email address.

Q: My account is temporarily unavailable. What do I do now?

A: Please re-apply for a new PIN. Go to the member login page, and click the “Need a PIN” link. Follow the instructions and a new PIN will be mailed to the address on file at PERF. Once you have received your new PIN, you may login with your Username, Password, and PIN.
