Arts in Education Granting Program

Subscribe for e-mail updates

The Arts in Education (AIE) Granting Program was created to help support curriculum needs, impact individual student engagement and performance, and develop a long term commitment to the arts in schools at the primary and secondary levels. Schools are asked to develop a working partnership with an artist, organization, business or group to develop and  implement a successful project. All projects must meet current state curriculum standards.

The Indiana Arts Commission believes the arts are a basic part of a balanced, quality education and a vehicle for increasing critical thinking skills. We encourage applicants to involve classroom teachers, as well as arts specialists, parents and administrators. Schools may choose to include inter or cross disciplinary projects that encourage arts integrated learning or focus on a specific visual, performing or literary art process. Project parameters will remain flexible to help meet the specific curriculum needs of each applicant. The granting period allows for detailed planning with the project partner(s) through the spring of 2009, with full implementation in the fall of 2009.
