The cost of the Purple Heart license plate includes only vehicle registration fees and taxes. A Purple Heart license plate allows the holder to park in areas designated for disabled drivers.
The plate is also available to order as a Purple Heart Disability license plate which displays the universal wheelchair symbol.
To purchase the Purple Heart plate, the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDOVA) must complete State Form 32584 certifying your eligibility for the plate. You must submit the certification form to any BMV license branch or at full and partial service providers.
You may request the Purple Heart Disability plate at any BMV license branch if you:
You may display this plate on passenger vehicles, motorcycles, trucks with a declared gross weight of not more than 11,000 pounds, and recreational vehicles.
Your plate should have stickers showing the day, month, and year of your next registration renewal, and the county in which your vehicle is registered. Indiana law prohibits license plate frames or covers that obscure stickers, text, or numbers on your plate
