To transfer a Commercial Driver License to Indiana from another state you must submit documentation to an Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles license branch proving that you are a resident of Indiana and establishing your identity. These documents must include:

A Primary or Secondary Document may also meet the Indiana residency requirement as long as the applicant's name and correct address are shown on the document. For a full list of acceptable primary, secondary, Social Security and residency documents, please download the

To transfer your commercial driver license, you will also need to provide a valid Department of Transportation "long form" physical.

You will be required to pass the written operator test, along with the commercial driver license general knowledge test. If you are requesting to have the hazmat endorsement on your license, you must also pass the hazardous materials test.
