The Bureau of Motor Vehicles houses a great deal of pertinent information for companies and individuals all around Indiana. For a yearly subscription fee of $50 for 10 user names and passwords, an individual or company can access the BMV's driver's license, registrations, and titles and liens records. Subscribers must also pay online fees of $7.50 per driver's license record, $5 per title and lien record, and $5 per registration record.

A note to our customers regarding registration record searches: In a routine review of search services available through Access Indiana (AI), the BMV and AI modified the vehicle search criteria to require access either by submitting a VIN or a Social Security number. By entering either one, the same information will be available. Vehicle information is no longer searchable through AI with only a license plate number. The updated search modifications are commensurate with best business practices, and future modifications may be implemented based on subsequent reviews.

Security guard companies and private investigators whose names and addresses on file with AI match the information on file with the Security Guard and Private Investigator Licensing Board, which is part of the Professional Licensing Agency, will have the ability to run license plate searches. Insurance companies with names and addresses on file with AI that match the information on file with the IDOI will have the ability to run license plate searches.

Please note that BMV online services will be unavailable on Sundays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. EST or 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. CST for routine maintenance.
