Many auto dealers around Indiana are partnering with the BMV to offer title and registeration services with a vehicle purchase. Additionally, you may now complete a number of transactions online such as registering a new vehicle, ordering duplicate titles, and updating personal information, by establishing a personal myBMV account.
A completed certificate of title is evidence of vehicle ownership. In Indiana, all motor vehicles, trailers, mobile homes and recreational vehicles must be titled. If you have recently purchased a vehicle with an Indiana title, or received as a gift a vehicle with an Indiana title, you must must title it in your own name within 31 days of purchasing or receiving it.

In 2007, the Abandoned Vehicles Division of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles ceased to conduct sales of abandoned vehicles as detailed in House Bill 1425.
An individual who owns a manufactured home attached to real property may now obtain a title for the home instead of using the Affadavit to Transfer to Real Estate process.
