The Bureau of Motor Vehicles offers identification cards for Indiana residents of any age who do not have a driver's license. You cannot hold both an identification card and a driver's license at the same time.

To get an identification card you must visit a license branch and present certain documents of identification. To get a free identification card for voting purposes you should state that you need a free identification card for voting purposes when you visit the license branch.

Indiana residents who do not have a birth certificate or a Social Security number may get an identification card by submitting alternate documents of identification.

How Long Is My Identification Card Valid?

Your identification card is valid for six years. To replace your Indiana identification card you will need to present certain documents of identification at a license branch.
