ICJI > Youth > Title II > Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention

Pursuant to Section 223(a)(14) of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 2002, the state agency designated to administer the Formula Grants Program must "provide for an adequate system of monitoring jails, detention facilities, and non-secure facilities to insure that the core requirements of the Act are being upheld." The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is the state agency designated to administer the Formula Grants Program, and as such, the Youth Division has been responsible for establishing the compliance monitoring program. The state's compliance monitor inspects facilities, verifies data, and receives self-reported data from facilities regarding their compliance with "core" JJDP Act requirements.
