The Forest Conservation & Stewardship Strategy Forum was held April 30 – May 1, 2010, at The Nature Conservancy’s Efroymson Conservation Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This statewide forest planning event built on the Statewide Forest Assessment and developed prioritized strategies and action steps for landscape areas where national, regional, and state resources can converge.
Stakeholders listened to a series of presentations to frame the afternoon’s strategy discussions.
Forum presentations:
- Assessment & Strategy Process – Chris Gonso
- Fragmentation – Jamie Palmer
- Soil & Water – Duane McCoy
- Invasive Plants – Ellen Jacquart
- Biological Diversity – Scott Haulton
- Forest Legacy – Brenda Huter
Indiana forest issues were loosely defined within workgroups. Workgroups brainstormed/developed commonly understood strategies and then voted on the strategies to prioritize them. Workgroups then developed action steps for the top strategies.
