Acreage protected in 2005: 12,080
The 8,335 acres that compose the two acquisitions now called Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area make up the largest single acquisition by the DNR since just after World War II. But this past year of 2005, the DNR also acquired (or reached agreements to protect) an additional 38 properties in 25 counties.
