Riverwatch Volunteer Water Monitoring Instructors are similar to what other DNR education programs (Project WET, WILD, and Learning Tree) call facilitators. They teach Riverwatch workshops, serve as a local contact and mentor for volunteer stream monitors, and provide presentations and exhibits to groups about volunteer stream monitoring. Each Volunteer Instructor also has the use of a Riverwatch Water Monitoring Education Trunks for teaching workshops. The trunks include a GPS receiver, macroinvertebrate sample collection,Water Monitoring Kits, books, nets, and supplies for teaching stream monitoring.

To be considered for application you must have completed Riverwatch training and have water quality monitoring experience. Eligible candidates must also have the time, motivation, and enthusiasm to organize and conduct one or more volunteer stream monitoring workshops each year and be comfortable teaching and speaking to small and large groups. Volunteer Instructors must attend a free 2-day overnight training. Application and acceptance into this elite program are required.
