Each year the Department of Natural Resources fills five seats on its Trails Advisory Board. Every member of the Trails Advisory Board is considered a state representative of their respective user group. They are also asked to send back information to their constituents from the meetings. This is why the Department of Natural Resources not only looks for individuals who desire to serve, but also those who have strong ties with clubs and organizations associated with the particular user group they wish to represent. 

In December, we look for nominations for qualified individuals to serve on the Trails Advisory Board. Nominations are accepted from clubs, organizations, and individuals. You may nominate yourself. If you or someone you know would be a great addition to the Trails Advisory Board, please download and complete the nomination instructions found at the bottom of the page.

In January, we contact all the nominees and request they complete our questionnaire. After reviewing questionnaires, the Department of Natural Resources will notify all candidates of their decision. The best candidate will be appointed to the Trails Advisory Board and will serve a three year term beginning on March 1. 
Nomination Instructions

Nominations will be accepted from December 1, 2014 to January 2, 2015 for individuals wishing to represent one of the following user groups:

  • Bicyclists
  • Higher Education/Health
  • Off-Road Motorcyclists
  • Parks and Recreation Agencies
  • Water Trail Users

Please review the entire Trails Advisory Board website before submitting a nomination. The Department of Natural Resources will accept nominations from Dec. 1, 2014 to Jan. 2, 2015.

To nominate someone to the Indiana Trails Advisory Board (TAB), provide us with the name and contact information for the person you are nominating. Then specify what group the nominee would represent. The following groups have openings on the board:

  • Bicyclists
  • Higher Education/Health
  • Off-Road Motorcyclists
  • Parks and Recreation Agencies
  • Water Trail Users

Next, list all relevant groups, organizations and associations the nominee belongs to. Feel free to mention additional information such as how long they have been an active member and any offices or positions they have held. Then in your own words tell us why that person should be appointed to the Trails Advisory Board. Finally, be sure to include your name and contact information.
