When you receive a tax bill you can:

  • Pay it by the due date by credit card, electronic check, check or money order.
  • Contact the Department for further explanation if you do not understand the bill.
  • Protest the bill by writing the Department within 45 days if you do not agree with the bill.

For more information, you can call the Department’s automated information line. The automated information line is available by calling (317) 233-4018. Here you can find the current balance due amounts on any individual or business tax bill.

You will need to have available: Your taxpayer identification number or Social Security number and the liability number or warrant number. This information is available from any of the previous notices that you have received.

If you have a rotary telephone, you may call (317) 232-2165 or (317) 232-2240 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a Department representative will assist you.
