If a load needs to be crated for protection then a letter must be faxed to Motor Carrier Services with the following information:

  1. What is in the crate?  Need specifics of exactly what is in the crate.
  2. Why does it need to be crated?
  3. The dimensions of the load itself.  This should include height, length, width, and weight.
  4. The dimensions of the load after it is crated.  This should include height, length, width, and weight of the piece including the crate.  What we are trying to determine here is how much dimension is being added by the crate.
  5. What type of crate is being used?
