What if you are an INTRAstate carrier? What does that mean?
It’s simple. If you stay within the Indiana state lines, you are an intrastate carrier.
This means you NEVER cross state lines, not even for a second.
But if you are keeping yourself, your truck, your freight, and/or your passengers within the state lines, you will still need to obtain an Intrastate USDOT/Indiana ID Number.
You will also need to learn about registering for MCFT, which we will discuss in the next section. You will find out more about Passenger/Household Goods Requirements and whether those will apply to you.
Finally, we will tell you what you need to know if you are looking to be both an interstate AND intrastate carrier.
