Taxpayer Advocate Office

The Taxpayer Advocate Office (TAO) at DOR helps Indiana taxpayers. TAO handles complex problems for customers who have already talked to Customer Service or the Payment Services Division.

If you haven’t already, contact DOR Customer Service by sending a secure message through the INTIME customer portal. Or call 317-232-2240 between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.

TAO also assists customers who feel they may have been treated in a way that violates their Taxpayer Bill of Rights. You can report these instances to taxadvocate@dor.in.gov, or by phone at 317-232-4692 or by fax at 317-232-5425. Or mail:
