Proactive system development to increase the quality of services, and grow the skills and abilities of staff to support individuals with greater challenges in the community.
Develop staff training curricula according to best practice in cooperation with State Wide Training group and Indiana Institute of Disabilities and Community.
Provide Essential Staff training in identified areas primarily through training the trainers of agencies.
Mentor community staff, generic service providers, and families in service provision for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Work with schools of higher education in service provision for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Provide technical assistance and consultation upon request from providers, families, or anyone involved in supporting people with intellectual disabilities regarding state of the art best practices to promote successful and continued living in the community.
Provide references, resources and current literature on topics related to intellectual disabilities services through collaboration with the Indiana Institute on Disabilities and Community.
Provide guidance to community clinicians in service delivery providing limited back up services only when they are not available in the community in the areas of behavioral, occupational therapy, adaptive equipment repair, assistive technology, seating assessments, alternative positioning, dysphagia, communication/speech, dietary and QMRP.
Serve as statewide Human Rights Committee to review the use of restrictive interventions for people with intellectual disabilities who have a restrictive intervention and no access to a local Human Rights Committee.
