Overview

What is the Indiana Respite Coalition?
The Indiana Respite Coalition is a group of individuals and members of organizations that advocate for statewide, quality respite services across the lifespan. The coalition is necessary for the state to be eligible to apply for federal funds via the Lifespan Respite Care Act.

Who are the Coalition Members?
The charter members include a consumer, three parents and representatives from the following organizations: ARC of Indiana, INARF, United Cerebral Palsy of Indiana, NAMI, the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services, the Division of Aging, Easter Seals ARC of N.E. Indiana, Community Ventures in Living, Gateway, Sycamore Services, Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, and Agape Respite Care, Inc.

What does the Coalition do?
The Indiana Respite Coalition is a coalition whose mission is to ensure that quality respite care is available to support and enhance the lives of individuals and their families throughout the lifespan. Establishing a coordinated, well-funded system of quality lifespan respite services in the state of Indiana will support caregivers, families and providers in their on-going responsibility of caring for the health, welfare and safety of people with special needs.

What are the goals of the Coalition?

  • Advocate for statewide lifespan respite services
  • Collaborate with the state of Indiana in securing and appropriately using federal Lifespan Respite Care funds.
  • Educate and provide awareness on public policy issues related to respite.
