The Indiana Family and Social Service Administration (FSSA) is placing a priority on increasing the number of children who receive five or more well-child checkups from birth to fifteen months. Preventive care is very important, especially for infants.
To have an impact on thousands of Hoosier Healthwise families across Indiana, FSSA has developed several strategies to encourage pregnant women and new parents to take their newborn children into the doctor's office for well-child visits. Among our strategies:
Another important method of educating Hoosier Healthwise members on the importance of well-child visits is distributing a poster for display in doctor's offices, DFR waiting rooms, enrollment centers, and community organizations.
FSSA has also created a flyer for new parents to help them keep track of their checkup appointments.
