Many individuals who participate in M.E.D. Works program pay premiums for their healthcare coverage. Premiums are based on a sliding fee scale and are based on:

• The gross annual income of you and your spouse (if you are married) divided by 12.
• The premium scale starts at $48 and is graduated to $254 based on marital status and income.
• Based on the percentage of the Federal Poverty Level of your gross income, premiums payments begin at the 150% of the Federal Poverty Level and continue up to 350% of Federal Poverty Level.
• Individuals whose income is under 150% of the federal poverty are not charged a premium.
• Premiums may be adjusted if monthly income changes (increases or decreases).
• Premiums may be adjusted if individuals are paying premiums to private or employer-sponsored health insurance.

Below is a scale for M.E.D. Works Premiums for 2008. If your gross monthly income is within the amounts in the table below your premiums will be adjusted as follows:

If gross income is less than $1,354 for a single person or $1,822 for a married couple, there is no premium.
