Office of Disaster Recovery > Information for Local Government, Public Officials and Nonprofits Information for Local Government, Public Officials and Nonprofits

Local governments and certain nonprofit organizations may be eligible to receive grant assistance from FEMA for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the repair, replacement, or restoration of disaster-damaged facilities. In order to qualify, your county must first be designated eligible for Public Assistance by FEMA.

32 Indiana counties are now eligible for federal public assistance. Approved counties include:

You must apply by filling out a Request for Public Assistance or RPA and submit it by the date listed on your county on the above map. Please fill out your RPA and fax it to 317-578-2447. Applicant briefings have been scheduled in some Indiana counties; at these meetings the Public Assistance process is explained. They are not mandatory, but you may find them helpful. After you complete and fax your RPA, you will be contacted to set up a kick-off meeting.
