State signs contract with Blue Sky Casino

FRENCH LICK, Indiana (November 9, 2005) -- Governor Mitch Daniels and the Indiana Gaming Commission officially granted Blue Sky Casino a contract to operate a casino in French Lick today.

During a ceremony at the French Lick Springs Resort, which is being restored as a part of the $320 million project, Gaming Commission Executive Director Ernest E. Yelton and the governor signed the contract. The West Baden Springs Hotel also is being restored as a part of the project. The casino is scheduled to open in December 2006.

?The jobs created by this project will give Orange County and neighboring counties a long-needed economic boost. This will become a true destination point for Hoosiers and other visitors to Indiana,? said Daniels. ?Many people have worked tirelessly for years to make this day happen. Generations from now, people will remember and benefit from those efforts.?

Blue Sky Casino, LLC, a joint venture by Indianapolis real estate developer Lauth, Inc., and Cook, Inc., the Bloomington medical device manufacturer, was selected for the project by the Indiana Gaming Commission in June following issuance of a new request for proposals.

?The scope and potential of this project are significantly greater than many thought possible. Lauth and Cook are extremely committed to the success of this project and the revitalization of this community. Most importantly, they have the resources to back up their promises,? said Yelton. ?We will support the success of this project and ensure the integrity of the casino operation.?
