Goode to become deputy chief of staff to Governor Daniels

INDIANAPOLIS (March 29, 2006) ? Governor Mitch Daniels announced today that Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA) Commissioner Earl Goode will become his deputy chief of staff, focusing on implementation of the Major Moves Roads and Jobs plan and economic development issues.

?Earl has shown distinguished leadership throughout his tenure at the IDOA. He has overseen much reform and change and will serve a vital role in strengthening the governor?s economic growth and job creation initiatives,? said Harry L. Gonso, chief of staff to Governor Daniels.

Prior to serving as IDOA commissioner, Goode had a 39-year career with GTE (now Verizon) and served in a number of leadership positions throughout the country. At the time of his retirement, he was President of GTE Information Services. Goode currently serves as Chairman of the Indiana Sports Corporation, and is a director of SLM (Sallie Mae Corporation), Goodwill Industries Foundation, and the Legacy Community Foundation.

?We are in the process of reviewing the leadership of the IDOA and expect to announce a replacement in the next few weeks. Until then, Earl will continue to oversee IDOA operations with the able staff he assembled,? said Gonso.

Goode?s appointment will be effective upon his resignation from the IDOA.
