Before and after the repairs.

Austin and Tom Arkins
In May 2009, Tom Arkins contacted the Indiana Historical Bureau to volunteer for the Historical Marker Repair and Maintenance Program. Since that time, Mr. Arkins has proven to be an enthusiastic worker and has repainted the Mary Bryan, Sarah Bolton, and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church state historical markers. Tom (right) posed for the picture above his youngest son, Austin, after reinstalling the Bulgarian Orthodox Church marker in July 2009.

Chase Arkins
Tom's grandson, Chase Arkins, also helped with the project by assisting with the painting. The Indiana Historical Bureau thanks Tom and his family for donating their time and energy to help keep Indiana's historical markers in excellent condition.
