Legacy Projects > Lake County Celebrates: Indiana’s Bicentennial Lake County Celebrates: Indiana’s Bicentennial

The Lake County Public Library will create a website which will include local town and library histories available 24/7 to anyone searching online. Each branch library will create local history displays and host programs with guest speakers from local historical societies. Our adult, teen and children's summer reading programs will all have the local history theme to encourage participants to explore library resources through this annual event.

The community will be invited to share stories and memories of Lake County via Facebook and these written histories will become part of the library’s collection, making them available to all Lake County citizens.

A local history geocaching program may also be created which will involve historical places throughout the county for people to visit.
