With Indiana’s long tradition of talented composers, singers and pop stars – from Hoagy Carmichael and Cole Porter to the Jacksons and Axl Rose makes Elkhart an established music event such as the Elkhart Jazz Festival a natural tie to the state’s history. The Bicentennial Commission’s endorsement will elevate plans to feature Hoagy Carmichael during performances and place emphasis on songs like “Back Home Again in Indiana,” “On the Banks of the Wabash,” and others with significant meaning to Hoosiers during sets.

A special musical composition to be in honor of Bicentennial year by a local musician to be performed on the free Civic Plaza stage *The theme for the 2015 Elkhart Jazz Festival will be a Bicentennial theme *Bicentennial Year will be incorporated in the Elkhart Jazz Fest 2015 logo *Fun state/music facts will be added in the MC scripts on the free Civic Plaza stage.
