Legacy Projects > Putnam County Court House Clocks and Assessment Project Putnam County Court House Clocks and Assessment Project

The Putnam County Court House Clocks and Assessment Project seeks to have the condition of the Court House assessed and to install two clocks. Some exterior deterioration has been noticed and HPS seeks to have a formal assessment of the structure to ensure the appropriate steps can be taken to avoid any extensive deterioration. When the Court House was built in 1904, there were locations on the southern and northern facades of the Court House for clocks to be installed. Through public fundraising, one was installed on the south side approximately 20 years ago. That clock requires increasingly more maintenance. The intent is to replace that clock and install a second on the north façade. The Court House is both figuratively and literally at the center of the County’s residents lives. The community has continued to support the maintenance of this edifice. These steps will ensure the Court House continues to meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
