Legacy Projects > Hoosiers in Music-Celebrating 200 Years Hoosiers in Music-Celebrating 200 Years

La Porte Little Theatre proposes a musical tribute to Hoosier composers. The purpose is to showcase songs by people from Indiana who found their place in history in our own state and throughout the nation and the world. La Porte County musicians will perform selections of famous Hoosiers such as Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Paul Dresser, Albert von Tilzer, Noble Sissle and James F. Hanley. They will also feature contemporary composers including John Cougar Mellencamp, Baby Face Edmonds, Bill Gaither and Michael Jackson. Brief biographies of these artists will be shared with the audience and photos will be projected on stage. This tribute to Indiana composers will show the pride in our state’s musical heritage from the past 200 years.
