Legacy Projects > Born Learning Trail Born Learning Trail

Born Learning is a national public engagement campaign sponsored by United Way. It helps parents, grandparents and caregivers explore ways to turn everyday moments into fun learning opportunities. The Born Learning Trail is one campaign component. Through a series of stations, the Born Learning Trail helps parents and caregivers engage with children to boost critical language, literacy and motor skills. Each sign displays fun, interactive games to exercise both a child’s body and mind.

Our trail is located on the Decatur River Greenway, a part of the Indiana Trails Community. It is installed at the loop around Adams Memorial Hospital, where the trail continues northwest on a historic Erie Lackawanna Railway corridor to American Legion Park and then east along an abandoned Norfolk Southern corridor to a stunning doublewide iron truss trestle over the St. Mary’s River. The trail is a collaboration of Decatur Parks and Rec., Winning Wellness, Purdue Extension, Adams Memorial Hospital and United Way of Adams County.
