Legacy Projects > Roadside Marker for William B. Laughlin Gravesite Roadside Marker for William B. Laughlin Gravesite

William B. Laughlin and his family gave the land for the city of Rushville and named the town after his mentor, Benjamin Rush, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The gravesite of William B. Laughlin is currently maintained in an inadequate fashion. We are erecting an aluminum marker and posts at the roadside adjacent to the gravesite. We are anticipating that a local business can supply the type of marker we want, the Rush County Historical Society will pay for the project and we are hopeful this will be the first of other markers that denote historical significance in Rush County.
