Legacy Projects > Bike101Lakes Bike101Lakes

This event engages and inspires youth, young adults and adults of all ages to embrace the outdoors. Bik riders from the tri-state area and further participate in this bike ride because it allows them to take part in the beautiful lake scenery of Steuben County. The proceeds from the bike ride support scholarships provided by the Humanities fund. Learn more at www.bike101lakes.com.

Q&A with Legacy Project Coordinator Jennifer Danic

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • Gathering individuals to ride bikes around scenic Steuben County lakes and farms.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • There were over 200 rider ranging from 6 years to 76 years old that rode 3 miles to over 120 miles around the community on charted routes with sag stops, entertainment and food. All money raised was used to provide a scholarship to a student pursuing arts education.

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • The Steuben County Community Foundation preserves all press clippings, pictures and memorabilia for the annual event.
