This project will locate the grave of Matthew Gentry, a friend of Abraham Lincoln’s during his boyhood years in Indiana. Lincoln wrote a poem about Matthew Gentry entitled “Poor Matthew” which was later published. This project will celebrate Indiana’s pioneer days when the Lincoln family lived in Spencer County and focuses on some of the people in their life.
