Indiana Bicentennial Celebration 2016

Legacy Projects > 200: Threads of Time 200: Threads of Time

“200: Threads of Time” will be an exhibit of contemporary textile art by INfiber, celebrating Indiana’s quilting history and the evolution of cloth as an expressive medium. Aware of our heritage in quilt making via the Amish and many other Hoosier craftspeople, we sought to extend and hold aloft the creative urges. INfiber artists were challenged to make at least one work exploring and representing the concept of “200” years in Indiana. History’s stories are bridged to the possibilities of today. How can 200 years be interpreted in cloth? Answers will be whimsical or literal, colorful, unusual or possibly jolting, and certainly celebratory. “200” will hang at 1 Municipal Drive Fishers, IN, from June 4 through July 30, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm during the weekdays, as part of the Art in City Hall series presented by the Fishers Art Council. An opening reception will be held June 10 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the accessible two-story atrium gallery. Included will be a fabric puzzle which children and others can arrange to their liking on a tabletop.
