Legacy Projects > Red, White & Boom: Celebrating History & Igniting the Future Red, White & Boom: Celebrating History & Igniting the Future

Located along the Ohio River Scenic Byway, the Community of Aurora has a strong sense of history and pride of place.  This festival will tie in not only the region and the state’s military history, but also the celebratory nature of the events that took place in Indiana’s past. This event will highlight the celebrations that took place upon Indiana’s admission to the Union 200 years ago, and feature a lighted boat competition, historic food, games, fireworks and a celebratory gunshot salute to Indiana.  The boats will highlight the Ohio Rivers importance historically as a transportation corridor during the 19th century. A vintage air show will remind all attending of the role Indiana has played in our military history.  The event will run July 1 – July 4, 2016.
