Legacy Projects > Bicentennial Postcard Bicentennial Postcard

The Bicentennial Postcard is a postcard with a picture of the Steuben County Soldiers Monument in downtown Angola. The Bicentennial logo will also be added to it. Residents of Steuben County are encouraged to pick one up to send to out of town friends or relatives. This postcard is in honor of Indiana’s 200th birthday and will not be offered again after 2016.

Q&A with Legacy Project Coordinator June Julien

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • Bringing awareness to the Bicentennial Celebration. Over ten thousand postcards were picked up at our offices and mailed to friends and family far and wide by residents.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • It was exciting to see all the young people come into our office for postcards. Some of them were using "snail mail" for the first time! Their faces shone with excitement to be able to share the monument they see every day with social media contacts they have never seen in person!

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • Numerous framed postcards grace office walls throughout the county as a gift from the Bicentennial Executive Committee, aka, Steuben County Tourism Bureau.

Estimated total attendance.

  • 10,000.
