Legacy Projects > 1812 Muster at Venoge 1812 Muster at Venoge

The 1812 Muster at Venoge will take place near Vevay, Indiana June 18-19. On June 18, 1812, war was declared between the US and Great Britain and a company of militia was raised by Switzerland County resident Captain Elisha Golay. This re-enactment event honors that militia unit. There will be militia demonstrations, hands-on activities, hearth cooking, and domestic arts. All volunteers and participants will be in period dress. The timber frame farmstead, c. 1814, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Join us for family fun and experience the early life of the French-Swiss settlers.
