Legacy Projects > The Old Dunkirk Railroad Depot, established 1867 The Old Dunkirk Railroad Depot, established 1867

The Old Dunkirk Railroad Depot began operation on October 10, 1867. The railroad was the lifeline of Dunkirk which became the Glass Capital of Indiana. Today summer concerts are held on the depots land. A Farmers Market is also available there during the growing season. A brick walkway inscribed with the names of past citizens and relatives of the city’s inhabitants is present at the depot. We will focus on the glass capital history by highlighting the railroads part in that.
