Legacy Projects > Allen County Fair - Bicentennial Day Allen County Fair - Bicentennial Day

The Allen County Extension Homemakers annually sponsor Home and Family Arts day at the Allen County fair. For 2016 the Allen County Fair committee also deemed July 27 to be Bicentennial Day, with programs focused on the theme. Curt Witcher, county bicentennial celebration coordinator, will present a program on “Indiana’s Bicentennial Celebration.” Gwen Gutwein from the Indiana Barn Foundation will present “Preserving Indiana’s Heritage, One Barn at a Time.” Cindy Thies of the New Century Extension Homemaker Club will present her research on the “Lesser-Known First Ladies” through a video on U.S. presidents’ wives she developed. The Fort Wayne Youtheatre will present a musical revue titled “Celebrate Indiana.” A pie baking contest will be followed by an auction, with profits donated to the Allen County Fairgrounds. The painted bison for Allen County and the Bicentennial Barn Quilt will be on display all day. Order forms for the bicentennial book and coin will be available.
