Our project is focused on celebrating Indiana history and culture. We are dedicating a bench with Tulip trees (the state tree) on each side of the school. Activities include a Walk-a-Thon mimicking the Bicentennial Torch Relay, school-wide field trips to Conner Prairie, an Indiana Bicentennial birthday cake, a Facebook album of places families visit in Indiana, a Famous Hoosier PowerPoint created by 4th grade students, students mimicking 60,000 signatures to become a state, politicians being invited to speak, a seven-bulletin-board timeline of Indiana history, essays/projects describing what Indiana will look like in 200 years, Bicentennial minutes and Indiana trivia on morning announcements, and a Hoosier Christmas tree created by students and honoring all 92 counties.
