Indiana Bicentennial Celebration 2016

Legacy Projects > The Paintings of Milan’s “Grandma Whitlatch” – Alice Carey Whitlatch The Paintings of Milan’s “Grandma Whitlatch” – Alice Carey Whitlatch

We propose to exhibit oil paintings created by Alice Carey Whitlatch (1876-1965), known locally as Grandma Whitlatch, but who has also been called Milan’s “Grandma Moses,” who began painting at age 78. The exhibit will be housed in the Milan branch of the Osgood Public Library beginning September 6 and will close on September 17, the day the Bicentennial Torch will arrive in our community. Students’ art pieces, inspired by Alice Whitlatch’s work, will be included in the exhibit to celebrate her work of local landscapes, Hoosier memories, and Indiana’s bicentennial.
