Indiana Bicentennial Celebration 2016

Legacy Projects > Abraham Lincoln's Cushaw Squash Project at the Lyles Station Historic School & Museum Abraham Lincoln's Cushaw Squash Project at the Lyles Station Historic School & Museum

Lyles Station acquired and planted heirloom Cushaw squash seeds, passed down from Abraham Lincoln’s family. The seeds were donated by the Lincoln National Boyhood National Memorial and planted by Gibson County 4-H youth on the grounds of the Lyles Station Historic School & Museum. The squash gardens will be available for tours and classroom field trips. The gourds grown will be on display and seed from the gourds will be made available to garden clubs or individuals who have an interest in preserving the Cushaw legacy. Pies will be made from the squash and served at the torch relay celebration at Lyles Station on September 11, 2016.
