2012 Hoosier History Grants

The Indiana State Historic Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) offered a new grant opportunity for organizations that preserve and maintain historic collections of Indiana records. The Hoosier History Grants were awarded to Indiana entities that desired to digitize specific types of records that might currently be in jeopardy, or sought assessment of the condition of collections in their repositories.

Grant funds of up to $5,000 were provided to each grantee; a local match was required that matched or exceeded the grant amount, in cash or in-kind.  These grants were available to not-for-profit organizations and units of local government in the State of Indiana.  Priority was given to institutions whose records were currently at risk.

Applications were due to the SHRAB no later than Friday, September 14, 2012; grantees were announced September 28, 2012.

2010 Archival Assessment Grants

The Indiana State Historic Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) awarded four archival assessment grants to Indiana organizations in an effort to determine and prioritize collection needs. The grants were designed to have experts in climate control, and archival documents evaluate conditions in Indiana-based organizations to safeguard their collections. Each grantee was eligible for up to $1,500 and agreed to provide a cash or in-kind match of at least 25 percent.

At the end of the assessment, each institution submitted a final report to the SHRAB detailing the assessment process and findings. This report was used to provide direction to each organization as well as a clearer picture of the condition of Indiana's historical holdings. Recipient organizations were the Clarksville Historical Society, Grouseland Foundation, Knox County Public Library, and the Ohio County Public Library.

Applications were due to the SHRAB on May 14, 2010 and grantees were named June 4, 2010.
